yYokai & Mysteryz@ A shrine associated with the legend of "Minamoto no Yoshitsune". (Aomori pref.)
Textbooks state that in 1189, Yoshitsune, at the behest of Minamoto no Yoritomo, was ambushed by Fujiwara no Yasuhira at Takadate in Koromogawa, and committed suicide by setting fire to his own residence. However, numerous legends persist that Yoshitsune actually survived.
While driving through the Tsugaru region, I happened to come across a sign that read, "Yoshitsune did not commit suicide, but crossed to Ezo (Hokkaido) from this very spot," so I'd like to share it with you.@(Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)

According to local legend:
‘ Fujiwara no Hidehira had previously instructed Yoshitsune to "set fire to the mansion, feign suicide, and cross to Ezo (Hokkaido) in times of need."
‘ When Yoshitsune was ambushed by Yasuhira, he followed him and fled to Tsugaru.
‘ However, he could not cross the raging Tsugaru Strait.
‘ Yoshitsune climbed a strange rock on the coast, enshrined a statue of Kannon (Goddess of Mercy), and prayed for three days and three nights. At dawn, at high tide, a white-haired old man appeared and gave him "three dragon-horses."
‘ Yoshitsune rode these dragon-horses across the "Tsugaru Strait, which was as calm as a mirror," to Ezo.
‘ Since then, this strange rock has been called "Mayaishi" (Stable Stone), and this area has been called "Miumaya" or "Minmaya."
