【Yokai & Mystery】 Ninomiya Shrine, which enshrines "the God Arahabaki" (Tokyo pref.)

It is believed that Arahabaki is the name of a deity worshipped in the Tohoku and Kanto regions, dating back to the Jomon period. However, it does not appear at all in the Kojiki or Nihon Shoki, the oldest surviving books in Japan.
Nevertheless, in many ancient shrines, Arahabaki is enshrined as a "guest deity" (kyakushin), separate from the main deity.
This time, I visited Ninomiya Shrine in Akiruno City, Tokyo. (Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)

Arahabaki is worshipped as the god of strong legs.

Straw sandals are a symbol of strong legs.

Many people come here to pray for continued good health and mobility.

★This place has been considered sacred since the Jomon period.★
