【Yokai & Mystery】 Barking statues in the midnight / Inari Kio Shrine (Tokyo pref.)

Above all, the name "Kino(=King of demon)" is amazing. It makes you wonder about its connection to "Kino maru(=The castle of king of demon)", the childhood name of Taira no Masakado, who is the guardian deity of the Kanto region and could be called the "king of vengeful spirits" (lol).
It's a shrine with a lot of intriguing stories, but this time I focused on exploring the "stone statues" within the grounds. (Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)

This stone statue was made during the Bunsei era (1818-1829), and according to the information board, "This water basin was in the residence of a certain Kagami from the Bunsei era, but every night there was a sound like someone bathing in water from a well, so one night he slashed it with a sword. After that, illness and misfortune frequently befell the family, so in the fourth year of the Tenpo era (1833), it was donated to our shrine." But how true is this story?

Indeed, compared to the smooth right shoulder, the left shoulder appears to have what looks like a sword wound.
