yTown & Gourmetz@ Ancient Hills Jomon Village. (Yamagata pref.)
The Jomon period was an ancient Japanese civilization that flourished for over ten thousand years, from approximately 15,000 years ago to 2,400 years ago. This was apparently an unprecedentedly long-lasting culture, but the Jomon period's greatness wasn't limited to its long duration.
The Jomon people formed "villages comprised of multiple families," lived a "settled hunting and gathering lifestyle," possessed a "vast trade network spanning all of Japan," lived a "peaceful life free from inter-tribal conflicts," had a "custom of caring for the injured and sick," and cultivated "delicate and magnificent art based on nature worship!"
Wanting to experience this Jomon period firsthand, I visited "Ancient Hills Jomon Village" in Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture, in the autumn of 2018. @(Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)

Even within the category of "Jomon," various patterns can be created depending on the way the knots in the ropes used to create the designs are tied.

A pillar erected to correspond to the position of the sunrise on the winter solstice.
The structure and design of these pit dwellings showcase the masterful craftsmanship of the artisans.
This is a replica of a clay figurine that was being sold at the museum. Even though it's a replica, it's a proper piece of pottery and of very high quality.
When you face it and drink sake, you can experience a "soul connection" that transcends more than 10,000 years of time τ
I feel like the Jomon period offers great hints for us to live fulfilling lives.
